As many of you know – and some may wonder – I was originally born, raised, and educated in Northern Italy where I graduated in Interior Design and Architecture from the Polytechnic of Milan. Yet, in the past ten years I have founded and run a consulting firm specializing in the application of Feng Shui techniques to architectural projects. From my background it is easy to see how my understanding of the architect’s profession can help a building or landscape right from the design phase by incorporating both construction and Feng Shui simultaneously, something other Feng Shui consultants would not be able to do simply because they usually read an architectural drawing as if the project already existed and do not see the major potential that a still undeveloped project has like my uniquely-trained eye can.
But the connection between Italy and Feng Shui doesn’t seem as obvious. Why is that?
The answer is really simple. Italians know best. “The Best”, that is. No, really, if you have ever visited Italy you probably have noticed that, for some unknown reason, we Italians are genetically engineered to just “know,” as we experience something, what it is that gives us “the best” well-being, sense of comfort, and quality of living. And most of all, we have a long history of appreciating China.
Don’t believe me? Check this out:
- Over 2,000 years ago, during the Han dynasty, silk garments where at the height of perfection. Their largest consumer: Rome. While ruled by the Roman Empire and all the way through the perilous ways of the “Silk Road,” these fine garments were the “must have” of Rome. To the point that the Roman Emperor Tiberius had to put a quota on the imports.
- During the Venetian trades to the East some navigational maps where brought back to Italy and where the basis from which Amerigo Vespucci– the real discoverer of the Americas– was able to make his way here prior to Columbus.
- Think pasta. Noodles, for instance. We all know they were invented in China, and yet it is not until they arrived in Italy that they were “polished,” “package,” and “put” out into the world with the name “Spaghetti.”
And so here I am, all these many centuries later, I too have discovered my own special Chinese secret– though today Feng Shui is hardly staying a secret. But given the mistreatment of it by some of the media and the lack of jurisdiction that separates real Feng Shui experts from fake ones, many of you may not know that Feng Shui is actually an ancient natural science, based on physics, mathematics and natural laws, particularly effective to creating health and well-ness, two things that are near and dear to Italians. (Well-being always first, money… not too far behind.) I combine my education as an architect, my skills from being a Feng Shui Master, and the sense of my being born Italian to help people create their best lives and living environments. I’ll be happy to show you and explain you how.
