Feng Shui for the Los Angeles City Club – Downtown Los Angeles
When the City Club in downtown Los Angeles decided to relocate to the South Tower of the City National Plaza building in 2012, I was contacted by the planning architect and was offered the task of being the Feng Shui business consultant for their design. In fact, the Club’s General Manager had specifically requested my services. “We have a large Asian clientele,” he informed me during our first meeting. “We know Feng Shui is important to them, and we would like to honor their culture and avoid any Feng Shui faux pas.”
And so we rode up to the 51st floor of the City National Plaza’s South Tower to an empty, glass and concrete, 30,000 square foot space with nothing but an electrician there making it fit for use. It was a Feng Shui Master (and architect’s) dream scenario. “This building is very good for the Club, Larry,” I shared with him during my initial analysis. “And we’ll make it a smashing success.”
In the following months, Larry and their teams of architects and designers worked painstakingly to create the most luxurious, sophisticated, and yet still warm and inviting look for the “new” club. And proudly, I must say, they all followed every single Feng Shui suggestion I had made during my consulting time with them, incorporating the Five Elements of Feng Shui with the design layout, the colors, and the finishing materials. The result was not only breathtakingly beautiful, but equally perfect from a Feng Shui stand point.
“This building has very good Qi, that is why it is so successful,” one of the members commented to me during one of the Club’s sold out events (and without knowing I was involved in its design).
When I explain my involvement, he was very happy to know the management had taken an interest in Feng Shui during its design. And he wanted to know more, so I told him how my consultation had helped. Soon a pool of people started to form around us, all eager to know what I did to make the energy of the place so good.
“In every single area we have inserted natural elements and colors to create harmony with the Qi of the building and to support leadership, financial success, and harmonious relationships for the members in attendance,” I explained.

I remained in deep discussion with these members for almost an hour. Upon seeing such an interest in hearing even more details, Larry decided to offer his members (and non-members) a live public presentation at the City Club itself where I could explain what I did even further, and also so that all of his members would be able to have the opportunity to learn how the Feng Shui of the Club can help them achieve success in their daily visits.

Move-in Consultations – Taking your existing building as is and maximizing its full Feng Shui potential without involving any renovations. It’s like giving your business an energy boost in the business world, and gaining a leg up on the competition. Major successful retail chains already use it, so why don’t you?
Renovations – Two types are offered:
– Cosmetic, which is a step up from a Fit Out. It means giving your existing building a “face lift”, though without involving any structural changes. Included in this type of consultation would be choosing paint palettes, materials, and a new furniture lay out based on the existing energy of the building.
– Structural, which means adding additions by undergoing full transformation of buildings by adding or removing floor levels, rooms, doors, walls, or windows. By doing this type of renovation you may or may not change the building’s existing energy. Therefore, this type of consultation is much more complex and involves having a more in-depth type of analysis that first evaluates the deeper effects on an energy level of how your building is going to effect your future corporate and business life. Then, in the second stage, it addresses the color palettes, materials, and establishes a new furniture lay out.
New Projects – Apply Feng Shui to new projects by reviewing the floor plan during the building’s design process, or develop your new design on a vacant lot. Since each project is different, we will be happy to discuss more about this with you directly.
Developments – These types of consultations are specifically tailored for office spaces designed to be used by a third party, either for sale or by lease. Like a New Project, each of these unique building developments needs to be handled individually on a case-by-case basis.
Relocations – When you are ready to move your business to a bigger site or expand it’s operation to different areas, this type of consultation will help you screen several different options until we identify the right location with the best Feng Shui and then help you fit it out for maximum success.
Annual Updates – The energy of a building is established at the time of its construction. However, the yearly energy that affects everything around it constantly changes while interacting with that same building’s established energy. The Annual Update is a brief consultation, usually done at the beginning of the Chinese New Year, which addresses and foresees potential problems related to this interaction and instructs you on how to correct them before they happen.
Note: This update can only be done as a follow-up to any of the above previous consultations.
